The Wastewater department is responsible for protecting against sewage spills by providing ongoing preventive cleaning, maintenance, and repair of the sewage collection and transportation system that consists of approximately 178 miles. This includes emergency removal of sewer line blockages, and maintenance of the structural integrity of sewer mains ranging in size from 6” to 18” inches. Wastewater utilities workers ensure maintenance and rehabilitation of 2,774 manholes and video inspects sewer mains to determine maintenance and repair needs. All City sewage is transferred to Eastern Municipal Water District’s treatment plant.
