Councilmember Russell Utz


Russ Utz Photo Businessman, father, husband, and public servant, Mr. Utz established a small home based business big enough to provide a sustainable income to support his family and be involved in community efforts, specifically those that benefit children, such as the local PTA.  Mr. Utz has served as Vice President of the Board for the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at Monte Vista Middle School where his children have attended, and as Acting Executive Director, Program Developer, and Primary Grant Writer/Researcher for the Lewis Center for the Homeless.

Mr. Utz's involvement in the City Council began in 2009 as a Planning Commissioner where he reviewed requests for changes alongside the City plan and determined whether the suggestion should be considered by the City Council.  A strong advocate for economic development in the San Jacinto Valley, Mr. Utz has supported many proposals involving business expansion over the years he has been involved in the City Council.  He campaigned on topics such as reopening the Cottonwood fire station, building homes for needy families with Habitat for Humanity, finding workable solutions for public safety issues, generating jobs, supporting small businesses, improving the downtown area, highway upgrades, and increasing resources for Veterans.  

Mr. Utz has held board positions with San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce, Western Riverside Council of Governments, Riverside Transit Agency, and has served as President for the Lion's Club.  He has also participated on various community organizations such as the Watermaster and Ramona Bowl committees,
