READY, SET, GO!
FIRST PART…GET READY!
In Riverside County, it’s not if we have a wildfire, it’s WHEN. The Ready, Set, GO preparedness campaign gives our residents tips on how to be prepared for wildfires year-round by:
- Creating defensible space around your home and property
- Hardening your home against an advancing wildfire
- Planting drought-resistant landscaping
- Having an emergency kit
- Being prepared to evacuate yourself and pets
SECOND PART…GET SET!
Create a Wildfire Action Plan that includes evacuation planning for your home, family and pets:
- Assemble an Emergency Supply Kit for each person in your household
- Fill-out a Family Communication Plan that includes important evacuation and contact information
THIRD PART…GO!
Be Ready to GO!…in case of evacuations. HAVE AN EMERGENCY SUPPLY KIT READY AT ALL TIMES!
- Three-day supply of non-perishable food and three gallons of water per person
- Map marked with at least two evacuation routes
- Prescriptions or special medications
- Change of clothing
- Extra eyeglasses or contact lenses
- An extra set of car keys, credit cards, cash or traveler’s checks
- First aid kit
- Flashlight
- Battery-powered radio and extra batteries
- Sanitation supplies
- Copies of important documents (birth certificates, passports, etc.)
- Don’t forget pet food and water!
